Career Development for Medical officers

Medical officers are involved in all aspects of health delivery service especially in examining, diagnosing and treating patients, administering and prescribing medication, performing procedures, surgery and alleviating pain and suffering in patients. They also perform health checks on pregnant women, deliver babies, perform post-mortem and other related duties as required. Medical officers are responsible for the implementation of family health and planning programmes as well as prevention and control of communicable diseases, and they form part of the team that disseminates public medical education. In the MOH’s research and development (R&D) institutions, they accomplish and discover new modes of treatment or develop new medical and health technologies to make certain that the health services rendered to the public are abreast or on a par with the developed nations.
