The Medical Radiation Surveillance Division is the regulatory body responsible for enforcing the Atomic Energy Licensing Act 1984 (Act 304) regarding the use of ionizing radiation for medical purposes. The division carries out the following core activities to ensure compliance with the Act:

ii. Enforcement & Prosecution
iii. Technical Advisory Services, Codes, and Standards
iv. Training Development & Inter-Agency Cooperation
The primary objective of these activities is to ensure that the use of ionizing radiation on patients is safe, effective, and optimized. Furthermore, these regulatory measures are implemented to safeguard the safety of both healthcare workers and the general public.
